UNIVERSAL HBT P-43 CARGO PANTS - LIGHT GREEN

UNIVERSAL HBT P-43 CARGO PANTS - LIGHT GREEN

DESCRIPTION

Originally issued as part of the U.S. Army’s hot-weather combat uniform during the mid years of World War II, these trousers were constructed from heavy cotton herringbone twill in the dark olive drab tone known as OD 7. Designed for fieldwork and fatigue duties, they combined resilience and comfort under harsh conditions. The cut features a full seat and thigh with high-set hip pockets, characteristic of pre-April 1944 production, and the distinct “fishbone” weave typical of wartime HBT fabric.

Though purely functional in their original intent, the clean lines and sturdy texture lend them a timeless utilitarian appeal that aligns seamlessly with modern wear. After the war, many veterans continued to wear their HBT fatigues for years in workshops, on farms, and in schools, turning what was once military-issue gear into part of America’s postwar daily uniform. This quiet transition from battlefield to everyday life helped define the foundation of modern workwear, marking the moment when military pragmatism began shaping civilian style and the roots of contemporary streetwear were first laid.
